B12
Methylcobalamin
Lyophilized powder — reconstitution with bacteriostatic water or a suitable solvent is required prior to use. BAC Water is available separately in our Solvents category.
Methylcobalamin is the active, neurologically available coenzyme form of Vitamin B12 (cobalamin). Unlike cyanocobalamin, it does not require conversion in the liver and is studied for its roles in myelin sheath synthesis2, one-carbon metabolism3, homocysteine remethylation3, and neuronal protection2. Research has explored its neuroprotective effects2 and interaction with the folate cycle3.
Mechanism of Action
Serves as a cofactor for methionine synthase in the remethylation of homocysteine to methionine; supports myelin synthesis; participates in nucleotide and DNA metabolism.
